Hello. Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Cindy Doty and I live in the beautiful state of Arkansas. My background is in the Administrative Assistant area. I have transcribed and proofread many documents in my career.
I decided to become a full-time freelance proofreader because (and I am going to be honest here) I would come across so many errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc., in published works and it would drive me insane. This happens because most writers are unable to proofread their own works due to the fact they are too close to it. They know what they intended to write, but their eyes will just skip past the point where they typed bear instead of bare. And once published, no one wants to receive emails from readers pointing out these errors.
Having more than one person read over your final work is crucial. My mission is to enhance the quality of your end project. Proofreading is not an expense; it is an investment.

I do proofreading only, no actual copyediting; however, if I see something that is obviously inconsistent or just doesn’t make sense, I will point it out to you. I normally use the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word, but I can also annotate your project in PDF form as well.
I read through each project word for word to detect and correct the following:
Confidentiality: I will be the only person to see your project and will be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Statement if requested. Projects will be deleted shortly after returning them to you.
My rate is $.008 per word with a $25 minimum and payable through PayPal. Should your project contain a significant amount of errors per page, the rate may be higher and you will be notified before continuing.
I will work with you on any deadline you may have. If there is any doubt that I will be able to meet a requested deadline, I will inform you before I accept your project.
